The Greenwood Genetic Center has an immediate opening for a Lead Bioinformatic Specialist on our Greenwood campus. The primary role of this position at the Greenwood Genetic Center is to lead our efforts surrounding the use of Next-Generation Sequencing data for clinical and investigational purposes.
Lead the GGC efforts surrounding the use of Next-Generation Sequencing data for clinical and investigational purposes
This individual will be charged with leading and supporting a group of current junior-level Specialists with the aim of developing greater levels of sophistication in the areas of Bioinformatics, Data Management and Machine Learning.
Significant experience in the field of Genomics and clinically-applied Bioinformatics expertise is required. Additionally, experience with transcriptomic, epigenetics, and proteomics is preferred.
Fluency in several programming languages, along with a well-rounded knowledge of genetics/molecular biology, is essential in order to understand and communicate relevant information.
Significant collaboration with Clinical Laboratory Directors and other Data Management personnel will be required for continued development and improvement while also providing necessary input on the organizational improvements necessary to achieve our objectives.
The Lead Bioinformatics Specialist must also be able to adapt their skill set to accommodate for technological advances and a steadily increasing volume of high-throughput data.
The applicant must also be willing to collaborate with other external Bioinformatics Specialists on larger, more demanding projects.
MS or PhD in either Bioinformatics or related field of Data/Computer Science
Fluency in Java, Python, R and C++
